I have virtually 5 mbps speed and information technology takes me about ane.5 hours to download. By the fourth dimension it has a black screen and installing it has probably finished the download, simply sometimes it updates things part-fashion through, which can stall the process a while.
Is information technology easy to disable or unplug your network access to see if it speeds things up or not? Sometimes disabling the check for updates this way makes it a chip faster.
Upgrades do take a lot longer than a clean install. Was your upgrade launched from the automated Get Windows 10 process or did you download a copy of Windows ten from Microsoft yourself?

When i checked on download progress, i was surprised to come across i'one thousand no longer on the blue screen with the juggling balls. It now shows the Control Panel screen.........i'thou still in the download, but now it'due south getting setup files. Where dose this place me in the download stream? How much time left to end download?
On this screen, there'south a button chosen "Stop Download". What happens when i hit this button? Will i lose all the time i've invested in the download thus far?

If it merely never continues, try powering off and run across what happens, just sometimes it tin can take a long time, especially if there is a shortage of disk space. You might accept to upgrade by downloading Windows ten to a USB stick and running setup.exe from that instead.

Sorry, I didn't meet your response before my terminal post.
I'thousand not certain on your progress, but I bet things are decorated with Microsoft servers these days.
On the few I tried with the Get Windows x icon, they never worked, and then I did all past downloading my ain copy and running setup.exe instead. I I left sitting overnight and it never progressed. I only cancelled it.

Yesterday effectually supper time i found i was at present in the Control Panel screen.........still in the download, but at present it's getting setup files. I left my PC on all night and much to my dismay, as of 7:10 this morning, i'thou still getting the setup files. *&&^()&$%*(
How is this possible? What is MS doing, mining my data? Something smells like an open can of fish here!

20% complete afterwards 23.5 hrs.........Actually........Cool!

Information technology doesn't take that long if information technology is working right. I would cancel and merely brand a USB, so that you lot have the full install bachelor. My guess is between one-2 hours for the download at 4 mbps.
The only advantage of choosing Upgrade now from the website is that you lot don't take to choose which Edition of Windows ten y'all demand on the USB when running the Media Creation Tool. And so choose Download Tool now.

The download did consummate this morning and it went into "preparing for installation" mode. Information technology appeared to be working, but then stalled........for many, many hours at present it'southward been sitting at 23% complete. Whatsoever ideas as to how i get this moving over again?
Don, i've got too much time invested in the upgrade to first over.
Again, i'd like to ask what happens if you click the "Finish Download" button? Do i lose everything i've accomplished thus far?
